COCKROACHES

There are a number of cockroach species found in the UK. The two main varieties are the German cockroach and the Oriental cockroach. The German cockroach is light brown in colour with two dark stripes behind its head. The Oriental cockroach is quite long and is dark brown/ black in colour. The American and Brown Banded cockroaches can also be found in the UK.

Cockroaches are known carriers of diseases such as Salmonella. Increases in asthma and eczema have been linked to cockroach infestations. They will usually only be seen at night when they come out to feed and will stay hidden in cracks and crevices during the day. Cockroaches will eat anything  from crumbs to fabrics and paper.

Cockroaches are very tough insects and are also able to breed rapidly. Once an infestation is established, cockroaches can spread quickly to other rooms and neighbouring properties. Expert knowledge and professional products are essential to control infestations.
